WARTBURG COLLEGE Title of Position – Program Director of Health and Human Performance Graduate Studies (Full-Time)
The Opportunity Wartburg College is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to implement new graduate programs in Health and Human Performance. These new Master of Science (MS) degrees will build upon successful undergraduate programs in health and human performance and the sciences, a successful DIII athletics program, and high-quality physical facilities in the “W” including state-of-the-art exercise science facilities, classrooms and laboratories.
The Role Position: Program Director of Health and Human Performance Graduate Studies Role Type: 12-month, in-person, administrative position with teaching duties upon program implementation Anticipated Starting Date: January 2026 Timeline: Screening of applications begins immediately and continues until filled Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
The Program Director of Health and Human Performance Graduate Studies will be the administrator responsible for the program curricula, staffing, and students within these programs. Two of the approved programs - the MS in Sport Science and MS in Data Science in Human Performance - will launch in fall 2026.
This position will collaborate with the Graduate Studies team and be responsible to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that enrollment goals are met, students are retained, professional standards are upheld, and coursework is completed to ensure successful program completion.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Student recruitment, admission, and advisement
Implement programmatic admission processes and standards in consultation with the Director of Graduate Program Operations
Collaborate with Director of Graduate Program Operations in development of recruitment events and represent the program at career fairs, visit days, Zoom webinars and with other presentations
Establish strategic industry and professional association partnerships and pipelines to recruit academically qualified students and meet program enrollment goals
Engage with prospective students, advising on program requirements and career opportunities
Advise enrolled students on course decisions and academic program adherence
2) Instructor recruitment, supervision, and accountability
Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Director of Graduate Program Operations in recruiting, selecting, hiring, onboarding and evaluating adjunct instructors
Provide direct supervision of the Health and Human Performance Practicum and Capstone Coordinator
3) Curricular leadership and oversight
Implement and evaluate curriculum
Lead academic assessment and program evaluation efforts within each of the program areas
Liaise with adjunct instructors and the Instructional Design team in ensuring high quality online program design
Collaborate with Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Program Operations in developing graduate academic policies; implement and ensure adherence to policies
4) Upon program implementation, teach four online courses annually in the graduate Health and Human Performance curriculum 5) Contribute to the life of the College as deemed appropriate in consultation with the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies 6) Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate/terminal degree in Health and Human Performance, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or a closely related field
Evidence of effective curriculum development and teaching excellence
Evidence of scholarly achievement
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a collaborative team
Ability to thrive in an evolving technological workplace
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of program development and implementation
Experience recruiting graduate students
Experience recruiting adjunct faculty
Clinical experience with athletes
Supervisory experience of graduate students
Online teaching experience
