Elizabethtown College is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor and Field Experience Coordinator of Exercise Science. This is a full-time 9-month position, beginning August 2025. Elizabethtown College offers a BS degree in Exercise Science, as well as an option of a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Athletic Training, or Strength and Conditioning within the major, as well as minors in Exercise Science and Coaching. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate level courses, completing academic advising, and providing service to the program and college. Teaching will focus on Exercise Science courses, with Biomechanics and Motor Learning being our greatest need, as well as other courses as needed such as, but not limited to, Fitness Testing and Exercise Prescription, Exercise and Sport Psychology, and Health and Wellness Promotion. This position includes both traditional in-person teaching responsibilities and the use of online teaching platforms. In addition, the candidate will be expected to fulfill the role of Field Experience Coordinator. They will be responsible for overseeing practicum, internship, and fieldwork, experiences for the students, which will include gaining and maintaining relationships with internship sites for all potential graduate and career interests of our students. The Field Experience Coordinator will also track and evaluate all internships within the major as internship supervisor in collaboration with site supervisors at each internship site. The candidate is expected to contribute to an environment that supports diversity, collegiality, teamwork, and inclusive teaching approaches.
Candidates are required to have a Master of Science degree in an Exercise Science-related field and at least 2 years of professional and/or clinical/academic laboratory experience in an Exercise Science-focused career.
Preferred degrees or concentrations are in Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Health and Human Performance, or Strength and Conditioning (or similar).
Professional certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is also required.
Candidates are also expected to maintain professional credentials and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
o A doctorate (or ABD) is preferred
o Minimum of 5 years of professional and/or clinical/academic laboratory experience.
o Experience teaching Biomechanics and Motor Learning courses in an undergraduate program.
