Position Description
The Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences (NHS) in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) is seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in exercise physiology and exercise testing. The position carries an appointment of 50% research, 45% teaching, and 5% service.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish or maintain a nationally recognized human research program in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, or performance assessment. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting and publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
• Developing collaborative research with faculty at UNL and/or other institutions.
• Presenting research findings at national or international scientific meetings and through invited presentations.
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of specialization.
• Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, including serving on graduate committees.
• Integrating research and teaching within the exercise physiology and exercise testing curriculum.

Department and University Environment
The Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences provides a collaborative and research-active environment, serving approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and 60 graduate students. Faculty research is supported by NIH, USDA/NIFA, foundations, and industry partners, in partnership with the Office of Research and Innovation (https://research.unl.edu/).

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in exercise physiology, exercise science, or a closely related field with potential (Assistant Professor) or established (Associate Professor) record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Evidence of potential (Assistant Professor) or documented (Associate Professor) effectiveness in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in exercise physiology or related areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in aerobic exercise responses to complement existing departmental strengths in resistance training.
• Evidence of the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams.
• Teaching experience in exercise testing and exercise physiology.
• Evidence of pursuing external funding (government or industry) to support research and student involvement.
• Demonstrated excellence in mentoring Master’s and Doctoral students.
