The School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in exercise physiology with a preferred start date of July 1, 2025.

Qualifications

Candidates must specialize in human cardiovascular physiology in both their research and teaching and have a PhD in Kinesiology or a related discipline at the start date of the appointment. Candidates whose research program combines both fundamental scientific inquiry and applied work to enhance human health and performance are particularly encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to applicants whose research program complements current faculty expertise and the focus on physical activity and health within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University.

The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates their potential for independent research with peer-assessed publications in top journals and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs. Candidates will be able to teach courses in human physiology, exercise physiology, and cardiovascular physiology and have an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Vaccination Requirements

Prior to May 1, 2022, the University required all students, faculty, staff, and visitors (including contractors) to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof that they were fully vaccinated or had an approved accommodation to engage in in-person University activities. These requirements were suspended effective May 1, 2022, but the University may reinstate them at any point.

The School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS) at Queen’s is home to a vibrant and collegial research and teaching environment. SKHS currently has 23 tenure-stream faculty members, over 1400 undergraduate students, and over 70 graduate students. The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies, a certificate program in Disability and Physical Activity, mini-streams in Strength and Conditioning and Athletic Therapy, and an MA, MSc and PhD in Kinesiology and Health Studies.
