Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned Doctorate in Exercise Science or a related field
• Academic credentials commensurate with a faculty appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure (mid-career Associate Professor or higher rank);
• Demonstrated record of extramurally funded research;
• Demonstrated record of teaching and mentoring excellence;
• Demonstrated record of administrative, personnel management, and leadership experience;
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as demonstrated by experience with program development, participation in programs or professional development focused on diversity, equity and/or inclusion, and/or accountability for diversity outcomes assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as department head, associate dean, or academic program director;
• Demonstrable experience in maximizing faculty, staff, and student professional growth and potential;
• Experience leading the tenure and promotion process and annual review of faculty and staff;
• Demonstrated record of effective fundraising and donor relation experience;
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate open and collaborative relationships within and external to the unit (e.g industry partners);
• Experience with, or strong familiarity of, community outreach in relation to a land-grant institution(s).
• Familiarity with managing financial assets, comprehending fiscal systems/reports, and experience with developing and forecasting realistic budgets.

About Department of Health and Exercise Science, Colorado State University

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. The Department of Health and Exercise Science has 23 faculty and adjunct members, 22 research associates and administrative staff, and over 1100 undergraduate students. In addition to a BS in Health and Exercise Science, the department also offers an MS degree in Health and Exercise Science and a PhD degree in Bioenergetics and currently has 27 graduate students. Department research is supported by extramural funding from government agencies (NIH, DOD, etc.), foundations (American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, etc.) and industry to investigate aging, sleep and circadian rhythms, physical activity, metabolic func...tion, neural injury and neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer rehabilitation. Department research is highly interdisciplinary and dedicated to improving our understanding and treatment of cardiometabolic disease, neurodegeneration, stroke and concussion through clinical and basic research. Most department research occurs in the state-of-the-art Human Performance Clinical Research Laboratory. The facility serves as a campus resource for human clinical research and is recognized by the CSU Office of the Vice President for Research as a Biological and Clinical Core facility. Research faculty manage 11 labs and have submitted 277 grants since 2016 resulting in $16,617,163 grant funding and annual research expenditures exceeding $2,500,000. The department has a significant history with engagement and outreach programs. These 10 programs serve the community from youth to elderly, provide hands-on experience for students, impact the health and well-being of participants, and generate data for research and academic classes. Two of these programs generate income for the department used to improve academic and research programs. Our outreach programs include Youth Sports Camp, HPCRL Clinical Resource CORE, Performance Health Analysis, Heart Disease Prevention Program, Adult Fitness, Fit Cancer, ACSM Exercise is Medicine on Campus, Enhanced Wellness, Muscles Alive!, and Mobility Clinics.
