Description: The Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in Health and Exercise Science with an emphasis in neuromuscular biomechanics and clinical research to begin July 1, 2024. We seek an active scholar with a focused line of research that strives to improve the neuromuscular health of a compromised or “at-risk” population. We are committed to academic distinction and diversity among the faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate will teach a variety of Health and Exercise Science courses including Biomechanics of Human Motion and Human Anatomy/Physiology.  Other responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects; creating a productive research program of national and international significance; and academic and career advising of students. Additional responsibilities include departmental, college, and university service. 

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in biomechanics or a closely related field. Additional expectations include post-doctoral training and teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels; research experience with demonstrated scholarship via first-authored publications; exposure to randomized clinical trial research, and a demonstrated potential for successful extramural funding.

Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University: Our interdisciplinary department’s mission is to advance the understanding of health and the prevention/treatment of chronic disease and physical disability. We are located on the WFU Reynolda Campus and host approximately 200 undergraduate majors and 18 master’s level graduate students. The department has 10 tenure-track faculty, 5 teaching professionals and one teacher-scholar postdoc.  The department offers both B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Health and Exercise Science.
