POSITION: A faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Exercise Physiology and expertise in a secondary area (e.g. research methods, rehabilitation science, adapted physical activity, rural health, minority health promotion, etc.) who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. This position will begin with the 2024-2025 academic year with a start date of August 24, 2024.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Rehabilitation Science, or related area by August 24, 2024 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching and ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Additionally, evidence of scholarship in the candidate's area of expertise plus student/faculty research leadership at the undergraduate and graduate level should be present. Experience working in clinical, commercial, worksite, and/or community health/fitness settings and professional certification through nationally recognized organizations (ACSM, NSCA, or NASM) are also preferred. Lastly, candidates must demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
DUTIES: Teach courses in the undergraduate Rehabilitation Science major and the new Exercise Physiology graduate program based on program needs (research methods, exercise physiology, community fitness program, assessment and prescription, etc.) and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and scholarly activities with undergraduate and graduate students; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession.
DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology consists of 13 faculty and instructional academic staff and over 700 majors and minors. Department faculty are dedicated to teaching and student learning and are actively engaged in student-faculty research. The Department is also recognized for community outreach programs that offer health and physical activity opportunities for individuals living in the Eau Claire area. In addition, the Department is affiliated with the Institute for Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire, which supports the advancement and visibility of pre-professional and professional health science programs as well as interprofessional education.
