The Department of Health and Human Physiology (HHP) (http://clas.uiowa.edu/hhp/) at the University of Iowa (http://www.uiowa.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with a focus on Therapeutic Recreation (TR), Child Life (CL), Disability Studies or related research. HHP programs in human physiology, health promotion, exercise science, TR and CL prepare students for careers in the allied health professions. The candidate will be expected to develop and sustain a scholarly research program. That may include, but is not limited to, expertise in disability, causes and functional limitations, effects on health and quality of life, people with developmental disabilities, people during major illness/life events and the promise to advance scholarly inquiry into diverse populations, enhancing the interdisciplinary departmental community and expanding research and academic inquiry within TR, CL, and HHP.

The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor level will possess a record of peer-reviewed publications in high quality scientific journals and strong evidence of the potential to acquire external funding for research in any area of research listed above. The candidate will be expected to develop and sustain scholarly work at the University of Iowa yielding peer-reviewed scholarly productivity, obtain extramural funding for research, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise and mentor graduate MS and PhD thesis students, serve on graduate comprehensive exam committees, and conduct professional and collegiate service activities. A relevant terminal doctoral degree is required prior to start date and salary and start-up support will be highly competitive with other institutions.

The successful candidate at the Associate or Full Professor level will possess a record of peer-reviewed publications in high quality scientific journals and have a record of securing external funding for research in any area of research listed above. The candidate will be expected to develop and sustain scholarly work at the University of Iowa yielding peer-reviewed scholarly productivity, obtain extramural funding for research, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students and mentor graduate MS and PhD thesis students, serve on graduate comprehensive exam committees, and conduct professional and collegiate service activities.
