The College of Charleston invites qualified applicants for a full-time Visiting Instructor position within the Exercise Science Program beginning in August 2023. This program is housed in the Department of Health and Human Performance (HEHP) within the newly formed and expanding School of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will join an active department that also offers undergraduate degrees in Public Health, Physical Education, as well as physical activity-based courses for the entire student body. We currently have 21 full-time teacher-scholars that serve approximately 800 undergraduate majors, with over 300 pursuing degrees in exercise science. The responsibilities of a Visiting Instructor include 1) providing high-quality instruction in four course sections per semester within the department, 2) offering professional mentoring for exercise science majors, 3) working collaboratively within the program and department to help meet stated goals and objectives, and 4) committing to a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate education.

At minimum, applicants mustpossess a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Motor Control or closely related discipline from an accredited institution before the August 16, 2023 start date. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate-level students with a dedication to achieve teaching excellence. We are looking for individuals whose teaching experiences and professional education are in the areas of motor learning/motor behavior, exercise physiology, human performance, and exercise assessment and prescription. Lastly, we prefer those with additional relevant professional certifications a record of service and/or experience mentoring students within a higher education setting.
