The Pediatric Cardiac Exercise Physiologist is responsible for working as a team to coordinate and optimizing the clinical operations of the pediatric cardiac exercise lab. This position performs duties in a manner a manner that is developmentally appropriate for the patient population served, primarily pediatric patients ranging in age from neonate to adult with varying degrees of acuity.

Position Responsibilities

• Schedule cardiopulmonary exercise tests and documents necessary patient information.
• Prepares the lab for the exercise testing including but not limited to review of patient charts for medical history, study ordered and reason for test, assembly of necessary forms, entry of patient information into medical equipment and calibration and set up of medical equipment.
• Obtains Informed consent by explaining the study ordered to patient and parent in a manner that is appropriate for the patient, asks parents to carefully read and sign the informed consent, and answer any questions or concerns they might have regarding the risks of the test.
• Prepares the patient and performs procedure as directed by the defined study protocol.
• Assures all equipment is functioning in an optimal manner and assists with the annual capital budgeting process to plan for the replacement of equipment as needed or the addition of new equipment.
• Collaborates with other pediatric exercise physiologists to coordinate coverage is maintained to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Collaborate with the Associate Nurse Manager and Medical Director to standardize departmental policies and procedures for the Exercise Lab as needed and as documented by updated policies and procedures.
• Provides direct clinical support within the ambulatory clinic as needed and outside of the lab when patient care needs are met by providing coverage in the ambulatory clinic when requested including but not limited to performing Sports Screening EKGs, and Placing Holter/Event Monitors etc.
• Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.

Position Requirements

• Master's Degree Exercise Science (Or Comparable) With Specialization in Exercise Physiology Required
• American Heart Association - Basic Life support Certification (BLS) upon hire
• American Heart Association - Pediatric advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
• American Heart Association - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
• More than 1 year and up to 3 years' experience preferred.
