The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has embarked on a cluster hiring plan in the area of Human Performance to establish research and educational excellence focused on improving human performance for health, elite sport and military applications. The Human Performance Initiative (HPI) is a collaboration between UTSA’s College of Engineering and Integrated Design and College for Health, Community and Policy. Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with expertise and research in engineering, artificial intelligence or data science related to human performance. The successful applicant will be expected to hold positions in the College of Engineering and Integrated Design (e.g., Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering) and the College for Health, Community and Policy (e.g. Kinesiology, Psychology, or Public Health). The required qualifications of a successful candidate are a doctorate degree in a related field, outstanding research, teaching and funding record appropriate for appointment at the desired rank (for those seeking appointments with tenure, this is contingent upon Board of Regents’ approval), and demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity. Moreover, the successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations and support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success.
Expertise in all areas of human performance research will be considered. Preferred qualifications include expertise in engineering (biomedical, mechanical, environmental, chemical, systems), artificial intelligence, and/or data science applied to the following domains: exercise physiology, kinesiology or biomechanics; sports medicine; rehabilitation; neurosensory or behavioral sciences; and/or sports science.
