This tenure-track position in The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Chico carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. These include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in area(s) of expertise and needs of the department; developing an area of scholarship leading to presentations and publications; advising undergraduate and graduate students; serving on master’s thesis and project committees; and contributing to the goals of the department and university by serving on committees. Additional responsibilities include working collegially with faculty.
Preferred areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, cardiovascular physiology, genetics, metabolic disorders, adipose physiology, and neurology. Post-doctoral training and grant writing experience are also preferred, but not required.
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in exercise physiology or a closely related area. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022. Candidates must have the ability to successfully teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology. They must demonstrate a line of professional and scholarly inquiry as evidenced by submission of peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations commensurate with academic experience. Candidates must also provide evidence of their commitment to, or experience, promoting and fostering an inclusive learning environment that is supportive of diverse learners.
Candidates should have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and various other courses in kinesiology. They should demonstrate a line of professional and scholarly inquiry as evidenced by submission of peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations and/or grant submissions commensurate with academic experience. The successful candidate must provide evidence of their commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of culturally and academically diverse learners.
