The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (ENS) at Weber State University (WSU) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Exercise and Sport Science program. This position may begin as early as January 2020.
The successful Assistant Professor applicant will be expected to teach a 12-credit hour load during each Fall and Spring semesters to undergraduate students at the WSU main campus in Ogden, Utah and at times at the WSU-Davis campus in Layton, Utah. Courses taught may include both upper and lower division courses such as Exploring Exercise Science Professions, Health/Fitness Evaluation & Exercise Prescription, Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Advanced Strength & Conditioning (scientific principles, techniques and prescription), and other current and future exercise science and nutrition courses housed in the college. The successful candidate must also a) demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; b) initiate and maintain a scholarly agenda; c) be active in service to the institution, community, and/or his or her profession; and d) work collegiality as a member of the Exercise and Nutrition Sciences faculty team.

Minimum Qualifications Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or other closely related field required, A.B.D. will be considered if degree is completed prior to the start of Spring 2020 semester (January 6, 2020).
Successful experience teaching exercise science or closely related content in a college/university setting. Experience conducting or facilitating scholarly research.
Professional service experience to an institution of higher education, membership/involvement with related professional associations, community service or administrative service.
Preferred Qualifications Successful experience developing and teaching health/fitness evaluation & exercise prescription, clinical exercise physiology (including cardiac rehabilitation and EKG), and advanced strength & conditioning (scientific principles, techniques and prescription) full-time in a college/university setting.
Recent record of scholarly achievement and desire to continue scholarly activities. Evidence of service to the community or college/university. Computer literacy, teaching with technology, and competency related to exercise physiology laboratory activities and assessments.
ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and/or NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Evidence of activity in professional organizations. Experience assessing learning outcomes and participating in program accreditation and reviews. Experience developing and teaching online and hybrid courses in higher education.
