The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks applications to join an innovative and forward-thinking Department with award winning faculty. The faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy maintain highly productive lines of research in the areas of cardiovascular disease, biomechanics, pediatrics and orthopedics. With currently over 1.7 million dollars in annual research expenditures and over 930 peer-reviewed articles on Web of Science, we are one of the most funded and published Physical Therapy Departments in the country. Duties & Qualifications
Responsibilities of the positions will include: 1) conducting research in your area of expertise, 2) teaching in our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and/or graduate programs, 3) supervision of graduate students in the MS in Rehabilitation Sciences and PhD (rehabilitation track) programs, and 4) service. Candidates must possess a PhD degree in physical therapy, physiology, exercise science, rehabilitation or a related field. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to develop an independent research program with evidence of the potential for successful procurement of external grant funding on a competitive basis. Preference will be given to the following areas: 1) Orthopedics/sports medicine; 2) Chronic disease prevention and management; 3) Healthy aging; 4) Physical activity; and 5) Behavioral therapy. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and scholarly record.
