The Department of Biology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Biology at the assistant professor rank to begin September, 2019. A physiologist is sought with a background which enables teaching in human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, and elective courses such as biomechanics.
A Ph.D. is required, with research experience, post-doctoral work, and undergraduate teaching experience preferred. MCLA seeks a candidate committed to high quality teaching, undergraduate mentoring and advising, and an active research program that embraces student-teacher collaborations. The Biology Department is housed in a modern science building with dedicated faculty-student research space.
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education and postdoctoral experience at the time of application
Specialization in one or more of the following areas: Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, and/or Biology
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse student and faculty groups
Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship in a small liberal arts college environment
Advising and mentoring experience with undergraduate students
Active research agenda
Publication record in scholarly journals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Active participation in the shared governance process at departmental, specialized committees, and college-wide levels
