The Department of Nutritional Sciences (NSC) at the University of Arizona is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track, Assistant Professor of Practice specializing in sports nutrition to begin in the fall of 2018.
The new minor program in sports nutrition is an example of how the NSC department is growing and pursuing new ideas that serve our students and our community This position would offer an active role in further development of sport nutrition programs within the department; expansion of collaborations on campus; and advancing outreach within the community. Applicants should have a broad knowledge of nutrition, sports nutrition, physical activity, and body composition assessment.
Job responsibilities include:
Course instruction. This position is a 100% instruction assignment. Teaching responsibilities include both traditional and online courses to primarily undergraduates, with the possibility of graduate teaching, in the following areas: Introductory Nutrition, Sports Nutrition , Physical activity and health promotion, Body composition assessment and methodology
Development of traditional, experiential learning, and/or online course curriculums
Mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds
Collaborating with department faculty as well as campus and community Dietitians, coaches, and athletes
Serving on appropriate Departmental, College and University committees and other areas as assigned
Masters degree in Nutritional Sciences, or related field (including but not limited to, exercise physiology, nutrition and exercise science); RDN credential; Instructional experience in formal or informal settings; Experience working with diverse populations including athletes and active individuals
PhD in Nutritional Sciences, or related field; Sports nutrition or physical activity certification; Applied sports nutrition experience; Demonstrated innovation in curriculum development, pedagogy, program design, or community outreach; College-level teaching experience including in-person and online teaching; Experience collaborating on programs.
