In conjunction with the Behavior Analysts and ABA Specialists and in support of behavior intervention programs, the Health and Wellness Coach will be responsible for developing a wellness coaching relationship with Individuals We Serve and the employees by providing assistance through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, encouragement, and education. In conjunction with the Dietitian, assists in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of programming and tools to create awareness and motivation that help IWS and employees adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet and physical activity. The position will work closely with IWS and the employees in guiding them toward realizing their personal best.
- Operating within the scope of personal certifications and license develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing programming with a focus on physical activities and exercise to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles.
- Maintains awareness of current best practices in the areas of Health and Wellness. Ensures proper training on changing methods and techniques to ensure the delivery of a quality wellness program. Keeps abreast of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts to use at Bancroft as appropriate. Explores ideas and opportunities to personalize the program to increase IWS and employee participation.
- Participates in well being related activities. Examples include, but limited to: wellness fair, health screening, lunch and learn seminars, bloodmobile, flu-shots, fitness classes, etc.
- Manages, oversees, and/or conducts health and physical skills assessments to develop goals that are person-centered, functionally-relevant, observable and measurable. Regularly monitors individuals for mastery of goals or troubleshooting obstacles.
Education & Experience:
Nationally recognized certification (ACE, NASM, NETA, AFAA) as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) in individual and group fitness instruction and a degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college is required. Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or university a plus.
At least two years experience in a wellness related field and at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or brain injuries preferred
