The George Mason University Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion (EFHP) Master of Science and Ph.D. specialization have graduate assistantship positions available for Fall 2018. A variety of graduate assistantships and fellowships are available including research assistants in the areas of lower extremity orthopedics, implementation of injury prevention programs, Gait/Running assessments, performing arts medicine, and biomechanics and bioimaging research. Graduate teaching positions are also available.
The MS and Ph.D. in Education, Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion (EFHP) are designed to cultivate educators and practitioners to be critical thinkers and apply evidence-based (research-based) practice principles to preserve and enhance human movement in all settings and populations. As Virginia’s largest public research university, EFHP doctoral students at Mason have access to faculty who are internationally renowned researchers and scholars. In addition, George Mason University supports doctoral students in research and other scholarly activities with state of the art laboratory and other research facilities and a robust portfolio of research and academic support services.
EFHP faculty research interests are conducted at the Sports Medicine Assessment, Research, and Testing (SMART Laboratory) in the areas of:

Lower Extremity Orthopedics Research
Research and Implementation of Injury Prevention Programs
Epidemiology, Wearable Sensors, and Community Outreach in Youth Leagues

- Bachelors or master’s degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
- Must hold current fitness realted certification such as ACSM, ACE, NAMS, NCSA, AFFA, NASM, NFPT, T-SAC, athletic training BOC, or other related certifications
